The Importance of Sleep
Sleep is a vital part of our well-being, deeply affecting our physical and mental health. We simply cannot live without it.
Think of how you feel much better and more prepared for the day after a refreshing night's sleep. The opposite is also true: sleep poorly and our concentration, energy, and disposition are greatly damaged.
That affects not only parents but babies and children as well.
Recent studies show that when babies and children are sleeping well, their appetites, mood, and even intellectual abilities improve. Their brain is more prepared to process new information, enhancing cognitive ability and producing growth hormones.
Muscles get more blood during development, and tissues are repaired more quickly. The immune system gets a boost too, since their bodies produce more white blood cells.
However, lack of sleep doesn’t just compromise these areas, but could also lead to behavioural problems and hyperactivity. If poor sleeping habits persist during childhood, they can develop into long-term adult issues.
If you're wondering what you can do to help your baby or child sleep better and longer, we can support you on an incredible journey towards better sleep.
